For The Love

by Charity

YOU!

You love your kids more than anything in the world.
You are the person that gets to spend the most time with them and watch them grow.
You learn their nuances and their demeanor.
You are the person they spend their day with.
You teach and love and nurture and love and discipline and love.
You get stressed out, but you love them anyway.
You try to help them navigate this new way of life.
You spend hours worrying about school.
You lose patience, but you dig down deep and find more for your precious little ones.
You can’t imagine your life without them.
You would do anything in the world for them.
You know their personality; their likes; their dislikes.
You know their favorite color and their favorite cartoon character.
You know who their friends are and what they talk about together.
You know what makes them sad and what cheers them up.
You love your kids more than you ever thought possible.

YOU…are my kid’s teacher.

You see, your kid’s teachers are the only other people that love your kids just as much as you do.  Not only are they navigating this global pandemic with all the same fears and anxiety as the rest of us, but they are also trying to figure out how to still show our kids love and support, while giving them the best education and school year possible.

Their hearts are broken because they want to see their kids.  They want to wrap their arms around them and love them and teach them.  That’s what their hearts desire.

That’s the heart of a teacher.
Our kids are their kids.

So FOR THE LOVE of teachers everywhere, I beg you-
Be kind.
Be supportive.
Buy them a cup of coffee.
Ask how they are doing.
Ask what you can do to help.
Buy them some extra school supplies.
Love on them.

We are asking so much of our teachers.
They are doubling their workload and figuring out how to teach and love our kids the best they can, while trying to be compliant with the new new parameters they have been given.
I guarantee every single teacher has cried getting their classroom ready with the new mandates in place.
It breaks their heart even more than it breaks ours.

They will do anything they have to do to keep our kids safe and healthy.
They are on our kids’ side. And they always will be.
Just give them a little bit of grace and space to figure this out.
Every single teacher is trying to reinvent the wheel on our kid’s behalf.
It’s a learning process.
They are starting over.

It’s only a matter of time until they all come up with something brilliant to make this situation better.
Because teachers have brilliant minds.  And they will wow us like they always do when tough situations arise.

This is not easy for anyone.
We are all navigating the same waters.
We are all on the same team.
We all want what’s best for our children.

And so do their teachers.

Love,
A Parent of School-Aged Kids
